Crisis Intervention Counsellor

WE'RE HIRINGMultiple part-time positions across 24/7 rosterBased on-site in Brisbane, QLD The team Womensline is a 24/7/365 free crisis helpline for women and children across Queensland experiencing domestic and family violence. We operate from an intersectional feminist framework, acknowledging that domestic and family violence is gender-based violence, predominantly perpetrated by men against women and children. We provide immediate individualised support and options to help victim/survivors feel safe again, whether they want to stay in the home, are thinking about leaving or have already left.  Your role Deliver immediate crisis intervention response, comprehensive safety planning and crisis counselling for women across Queensland experiencing domestic violence. Provide general information, referral pathways and practical assistance appropriate to the caller's needs. E.g., coordinating emergency transport and accommodation, linking in with high security shelters, case management support services, emergency financial support services, and more. Handle inbound and outbound phone calls in a professional, culturally sensitive, and non-judgmental approach to ensure appropriate action is taken to maintain client safety.Ensure database entries across all systems are of highly quality and entered in a timely manner. Adhere to client information confidentially at all times.  Application requirementsMinimum 3-year tertiary qualification in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field.2 years’ experience in social/community services or other human services related field.Well-developed knowledge and analysis of the effects, causes and dynamics of domestic and family violence.Significant ability to multi-task competing priorities.Exceptional and effective interpersonal, conflict resolution and consultation skills – crisis intervention experience highly regarded.Confident telephone communication skills.Committed to delivering trauma informed and evidence-based support to women and children impacted by violence and abuse.Paid Blue Card and National Police Check or ability and willingness to obtain.Full rights to work in Australia.Valid ID/driver's license.Willingness to attend and work on-site. Remuneration and benefitsSocial Community Home Care Disability Award Level 4.1.
