Mensline Counsellor

Part-time and casual opportunities availableBased in our Brisbane office - Inner City location close to public transportSCHADS Award Level 4 + shift penalties + superannuationAbout the RoleAs a Mensline Counsellor you will be the primary point of contact for our male callers and will be responsible for making professional risk assessments that maximise the safety of clients, partners, children and families. You will:Undertake assessments of the callers needs and take all reasonable action based on your assessments to respond to caller's needsProvide information and referralsLiaise with relevant service providers Provide Crisis Counselling supportRespond to police referralsShifts available between the hours of 8:30am-10pm Monday-Friday, weekend shifts also available on occasion to backfill leave. We are looking for applicants who are open to working both day and evening shifts.What we’re looking forA tertiary degree (of minimum 3 years duration) in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or relevant fieldExperience in the provision of professional counselling, advocacy, and related crisis work for men, preferably in the area of domestic violenceExperience in assessing indicators of whether the caller is a person who uses violence or one who is subjected to violence in his personal relationship, and demonstrated ability to respond appropriately to this assessmentDemonstrates understanding of and commitment to working from a strong gendered analysis of domestic and family violenceA clear understanding of how cultural difference can be addressed to maximize the appropriateness of any assistance providedKnowledge and understanding of the Domestic and Family Violence Act 2012, Domestic Violence Orders and Child Protection Act 1999 (or ability to rapidly acquire)Ability to manage time effectively, prioritise tasks, and demonstrated attention to detailSound IT and typing skillsAll offers of employment are subject to satisfactory background checks, including a National Police Check, Working with Children Check, referee checks and proof of eligibility to work in Australia and proof you are up to date with COVID-19 vaccinations. Why join DVConnectAbove Award conditions including paid parental leave, additional leave provisions; improved penalty rates and more generous long service leave provisionsFamily friendly workplaceFlexible work practicesEAP support and Professional Supervision provided Competitive salary and benefits including generous salary packaging, meal and entertainment card and discount programs availableOpportunity for ongoing professional developmentInterested?
